World Coconut Day 2021

#Karwar #cuisine mainly consists of the tropical #coconut, with plenty of #CoconutTrees in and around Karwar. There is no #dish which has no coconut in it, making it a part of our #StapleDiet.

Every year on September 2, #WorldCoconutDay is celebrated to create awareness across the globe about the importance of the coconut & its innumerable benefits.

Aligadda Beach of Karwar

Uttar Kannada District( Karwar) has a coastline of about 144 km. and covers approximate an area of 10,327 sq.km. and is largely influenced by several rivers flowing in to the Arabian Sea of West Coast of India.

Traditionally the Karwar coast is popularly known as “Mackerel coast”, of which a few beaches remain accessible to the general public, most of them being taken over by the Indian Navy. One of such beaches is the Aligadda beach, next to the National Highway, as one enters Karwar from the South, next to the Port. 

Lord Shiva at Murudeshwar

 Lord Shiva represents the aspect of the Supreme Being (Brahman of the Upanishads) that continuously dissolves to recreate in the cyclic process of creation, preservation, dissolution and recreation of the universe.Lord Shiva is the Lord of mercy and compassion. He protects devotees from evil forces such as lust, greed, and anger. He grants boons, bestows grace and awakens wisdom in His devotees. The symbolism discussed below includes major symbols that are common to all pictures and images of Shiva venerated by Hindus. Since the tasks of Lord Shiva are numerous, He cannot be symbolized in one form. For this reason the images of Shiva vary significantly in their symbolism.

Just another day at the Paradise Beach, Gokarn - 1

Shot on 30th January 2011, Time stands still at this beach at Gokarn, aptly named by the beach-lovers as Paradise beach...


There are several tourists here, for whom Time has stood still... and they have never left Paradise !


A full 75 minutes' treacherous Trek from the Om Beach, Reveals you this beach... Many a times during the Trek you are tempted to feel that there is no "Paradise" or the Paradise beach... But when you reach there, you are in a different world altogether.... and its Paradise !!

Murudeshwar Raja Gopura - Big - September Theme

This is my picture for the September 2009's Theme - Big on the www.citydailyphoto.com.

This was taken at Murudeshwara, 120kms from Karwar, and depicts the Huge "Raja Gopura" Tower alongside the Murudeshwara Temple, and the Murudeshwar Beach (Video of the Beach here..)

The Rajagopura at the entrance of the Temple is the world's tallest, standing at 249 feet. Inaugurated in May 2008, this mammoth structure is the latest addition to the Temple. The Gopura has 22 floors and is the only Gopura to be fitted with elevators.
