This is the device to Lift Water from the Well.......

This works on the Lever Principle, with a slanted horizontal pole (above my head) balanced on a pivot, one end of which is tied down to weights and the other end is fixed to another bamboo pole (which I am holding) tied to a Bucket. I have to pull the pole holding the bucket and fill the water, and let the pole slowly up, and then empty the water into the water-channel or another container.

 The Pathway to the Paradise Beach alongside the mountain..

 One mistake will throw you over the rocks, into the Arabian sea....

The Mountains are very dry made of rocks, uncharacteristic of the Western Ghats... As Western Ghats are primarily Greener and cooler.. The attempts of the Government (Forest Department) to afforest the region has borne fruit, as there is a bit of greenery, as compared to Ten years back..

Shot on 30th January 2011, Time stands still at this beach at Gokarn, aptly named by the beach-lovers as Paradise beach...


There are several tourists here, for whom Time has stood still... and they have never left Paradise !


A full 75 minutes' treacherous Trek from the Om Beach, Reveals you this beach... Many a times during the Trek you are tempted to feel that there is no "Paradise" or the Paradise beach... But when you reach there, you are in a different world altogether.... and its Paradise !!
