Kuramgad Island Jatraa

4km from the mainland, this tortoise-shaped island hilltop Narasimha Temple, which held annual Pushya full moon in early January each year attracts thousands of devotees during the Jatra is famous for. Kurumgad is steeped in history, complete with the remains of a fortress with cannon holes.
It is believed that this Half Lion & Half Human diety, Reincarnation of Lord Vishnu in Hindu Mythology, swam accross the sea & made his way to this Island tearing it apart & made it it's abode. The Island has a sweet water pond despite the fact that it is located some nautical miles away from Karwar City in mid Arabian sea.

Panoramic view of sea, sand, and neighboring islands to enjoy the island’s plateau, or trekking, fishing, dolphin and seal spotting, neighboring islands, diving, snorkelling, treasure hunting activities such as the boat ride involved in guided tours, or star gazing.
