Blue Kite in the Blue Monsoon Sky

- Author unknown
I often sit and wish that I
Could be a kite up in the sky,
And ride upon the wind and go
Whichever way I chanced to blow.

Chidren and Kites

Children are like kites.
You run with them until you are breathless.
They crash – you add a longer tail,
they hit the roof-top – you pluck them from spouts.
You patch and comfort, adjust and teach.
You watch them lifted by the wind
and assure them some day they’ll fly.
Finally they’re airborne
but they need more string
so you keep letting it out.
With each twist of the twine there’s
sadness and joy because the kite
becomes more distant and
you know it won’t be long before
it will snap the fine line
that has bound you together,
soar as it was meant to soar… independently free.

Every Dog has its Day !!!

<

Clicked this doggy carrying a dummy Mobile set at the Palolem Beach, 35 kms from Karwar...

The doggy's owner seems to have tied this dummy mobile handset to its neck,
and the doggy was carrying it around "in Style".....

And Sorry, I forgot to take its number... :-)

I and my friend could not stop laughing, and the dog was giving us a Glaring look....

To relieve itself from the summer heat, the dog had taken to the water for a dip....

Road Roller

On a Sunday, this Road Roller rests, on a new Road Construction site. Elaborately painted, with a sign for everything such as the Tool Box, Diesel Tank, and donning the Hindu Religious insignia (three white lines done with the three fingers by the priest), I guess this is one of the few Road Rollers of this Vintage Type still working here... they are fast being replaced by the more modern ones....

Time to Run

As the Monsoons approach,
the Sea Level rises, and
the waves rush to the shore
without any warning,
and its the Time to Run.....

My Bike at the beach

This is the Indian TI Cycles made Hercules Atom 18 speed Dual Shox bike, I bought in January this year. It comes out on my weekend outings, and sometimes, during my morning exercise routines.... I had posted a shadow picture of me and my bike earlier, so I thought I would post the picture of the real bike....

Om Beach at Gokarn

Thats the OM Beach of Gokarn, 60 kms down South of Karwar, and 15 kms from the National Highway no.17.
This beach has been the preferred destination for many western travellers, and Hippies, due to its location, suroundings, privacy, non-commercial flavour, etc.
A newly laid Tarmac Road takes us bang on the beach, and this has brought many local tourists, who generally do not venture to places not connected by a proper Road. Hence the crowd is more comprised by local tourists, who generally venture out inthe sea, without knowing ABC's of swimming.. it is estimated that at least one life is lost every week, this way.

The Waterfall

The Waterfall Poem

droplets springing smoothly,

slowly down they fall.

But to there suprise,

they are carried up again.

Was I that heard,

this soundful shower.

That carried on,

Throughout the hour.

When that day comes,

When the water stops.

Inside my mind,

The water still drops.

~

This is one of the myriad waterfalls that one encounters in the mountains around Karwar in the Monsoons - rainy season...

Its time that we had the monsoons, as water sources everywhere are drying fast, and the sweltering heat is taking its toll...

Karwar sunset through the eyes of Tagore, the Nobel Laureate Poet

Sail Away

Early in the day it was whispered that we should sail in a boat,
only thou and I, and never a soul in the world would know of this our
pilgrimage to no country and to no end.

In that shoreless ocean,
at thy silently listening smile my songs would swell in melodies,
free as waves, free from all bondage of words.

Is the time not come yet?
Are there works still to do?
Lo, the evening has come down upon the shore
and in the fading light the seabirds come flying to their nests.

Who knows when the chains will be off,
and the boat, like the last glimmer of sunset,
vanish into the night?

- Rabindranath Tagore
In the picture is poet's statue installed at the Karwar beach entrance, and the beach itself is named as Rabindranath Tagore Tagore Beach. The poet, who visited Karwar in 1882, dedicated an entire chapter of his memoirs to this town here.

My Biking Shadow

This is for the current theme - May - Shadows.
Thought i would post this picture of my bike and my own shadow.... Took to serious biking some time back, realizing that my current office-chair lifestyle will hurt me... Have been doing a lot of biking since then.. and biking also affords me lot of opportunities of photography of landscapes, people, etc., and that way I also get some much-needed exercise....

Search Light from Heaven....

After a pretty lllloooonnnnngggg time I am back to my Blog. Had clicked this picture last Sunday and this Song was going on in my mind.....

Hey God, I'm just a little man got a wife and family
But I almost lost the house, Yeah I bought into the dream
We're barely holding on when I'm in way too deep
We're two paychecks away from living out on the streets
She's a workin' single mom, like a Saint she don't complain
She never says a word, but she thinks that she's to blame
Her son just got convicted, he blew some punk away
She did her best to raise him, but the world got in the way

Hey God - Tell me what the hell is going on
Seems like all the good shit's gone
It keeps on getting harder hanging on
Hey God, there's nights you know I want to scream
These days you're even harder to believe
I know how busy you must be, but Hey God....
Do you ever think about me
