JAATRA SEASON MEANS WARM SUGARY JALEBIS.....

The Jaatra season in Karwar is heralded by the Kadra Jaatra of Goddess Mahamaya in the month of November, soon after Diwali. After the Kadra Jaatra, the slew of Jaatras (Fairs) start, with the Baad Mahadevasthaan Jatra, then Kodibeer Jaatra, Maladevi Jatra, Marutigalli Jaatra, also followed by Kurumgad Island Jatra in January.

And the common factor of all these Jatraas is the sweet stalls set up by the villagers, the savouries comprising of Khajji, Baththas, Halva and Jalebiis.
And who can resist Garama Garam Jalebis ??

Om Beach - The Abode of the Hippie Sadhu!!

Om beach about 8 Kms from Gokarna gets its name from the two semi-circular coves that join to form an inverted symbol of OM. This beach is known for its spiritual hippies – with ash smeared on their foreheads, tattoos all over their body, long hair, beard and beads all over. Om Beach is the most popular beach in Gokarna.
