Karwar Boondi Laadu

Karwar special Boondi Laadu

Its a LessSugar Delicacy and does not contain the chemical sugar (sachrine).

This Homemade laddoo (laadu) is a delicious and popular indian sweet made from besan (gram flour) batter.

These ladoos are called boondi ladoos, since the batter is poured through a ladle or sieve with perforations while frying.

The method to make boondi ladoo is here ..... for full recipe go to :

https://www.vegrecipesofindia.com/boondi-ladoo-recipe-boondi-laddu/

In Karwar you can Buy it from local tea shops, or visit a wedding house to savour the ladoos made by a cook in realtime.

These pictures were clicked in a small tea shop next to Telang Toad cross at Nandangadda, Karwar.

Awesome taste for 240Rs per kilo. Each kilo will get  you nearly 28 ladoos depending on the size.

That "goin down" Feeling...

This is a pic from Dharmasthala - Annappa Swami Hill.

A Steep stairway, that scares you to slide all the way down.....

And how difficult it was to get up here....

RiP Karwar Beach - Toy-train

#Karwar

Way back in 2008 this #ToyTrain used to run on a Oval track laid in between the   #Seashore of #Karwarbeach and the #NH17, now #NH66.

#Monsoons of 2 years caused huge #Erosion, washing away the Tracks twice in a couple of years, said to have been a direct result of the #dredging in the Naval Base controlled sea, while it was under construction.

Now only #memories remain.

And the #station got converted into a Restaurant.

A #planetarium also was built in the same period which also got converted to another Restaurant.

Funnily,  the Karwar Municipal Council Web page still refers to the Toy Train, Planetarium, as if they are still 'present'. (Pic attached).

Maybe they are being Sarcastic.

Kodibag Jetty

First posted on #Instagram -
This pix was clicked at Kodibag jetty.

This used to be a very busy place when the Kali bridge wasn't constructed prior to 1983.

Now after the government ban on Sand mining, it has become even more desolate.

This poem seems most apt in the memory of the #child found washed up on the #SyrianBeach

Kids Who Die
by Langston Hughes

This is for the kids who die,
Black and white,
For kids will die certainly.
The old and rich will live on awhile,
As always,
Eating blood and gold,
Letting kids die.

Kids will die in the swamps of Mississippi
Organizing sharecroppers
Kids will die in the streets of Chicago
Organizing workers
Kids will die in the orange groves of California
Telling others to get together
Whites and Filipinos,
Negroes and Mexicans,
All kinds of kids will die
Who don’t believe in lies, and bribes, and contentment
And a lousy peace.

Of course, the wise and the learned
Who pen editorials in the papers,
And the gentlemen with Dr. in front of their names
White and black,
Who make surveys and write books
Will live on weaving words to smother the kids who die,
And the sleazy courts,
And the bribe-reaching police,
And the blood-loving generals,
And the money-loving preachers
Will all raise their hands against the kids who die,
Beating them with laws and clubs and bayonets and bullets
To frighten the people—
For the kids who die are like iron in the blood of the people—
And the old and rich don’t want the people
To taste the iron of the kids who die,
Don’t want the people to get wise to their own power,
To believe an Angelo Herndon, or even get together

Listen, kids who die—
Maybe, now, there will be no monument for you
Except in our hearts
Maybe your bodies’ll be lost in a swamp
Or a prison grave, or the potter’s field,
Or the rivers where you’re drowned like Leibknecht
But the day will come—
You are sure yourselves that it is coming—
When the marching feet of the masses
Will raise for you a living monument of love,
And joy, and laughter,
And black hands and white hands clasped as one,
And a song that reaches the sky—
The song of the life triumphant
Through the kids who die.

Farmers at work... Binaga Karwar

"There seem to be but three ways for a nation to acquire wealth.
The first is by war, as the Romans did, in plundering their conquered neighbors. This is robbery.
The second by commerce, which is generally cheating.
The third by agriculture, the only honest way, wherein man receives a real increase of the seed thrown into the ground, in a kind of continual miracle, wrought by the hand of God in his favor, as a reward for his innocent life and his virtuous industry." - Benjamin Franklin.

Another foggy morning at Kinner....

Just another foggy morning. .
Kids wait for the bus to school...
And a man goes for a stroll...
Life seems still on the surface...
Turbulence is casually masked.
Nothing has changed here...
And nothing is expected to change...

Another Sunset from the Tagore Beach Sunset Series at Karwar

“Dusk is just an illusion because the sun is either above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in a way that few things are there cannot be one without the other yet they cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel I remember wondering to be always together yet forever apart?”
Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

Wasted!

"You never come back, not all the way. Always there is an odd distance between you and the people you love and the people you meet, a barrier thin as the glass of a mirror, you never come all the way out of the mirror; you stand, for the rest of your life, with one foot in this world and no one in another, where everything is upside down and backward and sad."
- Marya Hornbacher.

At the High Tea time....

Its late Afternoon, or early evening at #Karwar, and this is how the Sea appears, shiny and shimmering orange.

And a short verse I wrote:
"Men of Wisdom love the Mountains,
And men of Knowledge love the Sea!
In Karwar you will find both of these,
where Mountains stretch into the Sea,
And the Aqua marine color them Green!"

200 illegal huts along Karwar beach demolished

200 illegal huts along Karwar beach demolished

However, when the earthmovers tried to clear the huts near Aquarium, many fishermen protested and even blocked them. While the women from the community were weeping over their plight, some of the protests burnt portraits of District Incharge minister R V Deshpande and local legislator Sateesh Sail.

"The action is being taken following the apex court order and it is under the guidance of district administration that taluk officials have cleared the huts. But the district administration is also committed to the welfare of the traditional fishermen.

The administration is contemplating providing place near London Bridge and Devekar College for fishermen to keep their fishing equipment like boats, nets and others,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner H Prasanna.

Sky is His Canvas!

THE SKY IS HIS CANVAS

This night is amazing
The clouds rearranging
The light is falling, tumbling from the skies
And life full of hope, dear
And rain makes us float, dear
The waters flooding, mixing in our eyes
And often times we pass it by
But at any time we can see the sky
And marvel at the wonders high
An know of God just by this sight
The sky is His canvas
To always enchant us
And to always bring a smile to our faces
To all who are tired
Or desperate to feel loved
Just look up to see the face of God
And often times we pass it by
But at any time we can see the sky
And marvel at the wonders high
An know of God just by this sight..
